This exhibit opens September 8, 2017 at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art:

Another successful Quest for the West® Art Show and Sale generated nearly $950,000 for the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art and the participating artists. More than 250 collectors and art enthusiasts participated September 10 in the 11th annual show and sale opening weekend festivities, where they met and purchased works from leading Western artists.

“The creativity of the Western artists who present their works at the Eiteljorg Museum and the passion and enthusiasm of the collectors who seek out their art are key to the success of Quest for the West®, the only Western art show and sale hosted by a major museum east of the Mississippi,” Eiteljorg Museum President and CEO John Vanausdall said. “Not only is it one of our institution’s signature fund-raising events each year, Quest for the West® provides us an opportunity to support these inspired artists and thank loyal collectors who make it possible for the artists to pursue new creative heights.”

This year’s Quest for the West® also featured a Collector of Distinction exhibition honoring Betsey Harvey, a founding member of the Western Art Society and former chair of the Eiteljorg board of directors. The exhibition now on public display at the Eiteljorg includes notable paintings from Harvey’s private collection, including works of Howard Terpning, Robert Griffing, Doug Hyde, Kenneth Riley and Mian Situ, among others. A special reception in recognition of Betsey Harvey’s instrumental role in the museum’s development will take place Friday September 9, with the Wright Brothers Band providing music.
